Objectives

  • Increase the awareness of campus and community resources that can serve to address possible basic needs concerns.
  • Promote campus services, programs, and up-coming events centered on basic needs through strategic planning, partner collaboration, and marketing.
  • To provide students with more sustainable options to reduce food insecurities and address other basic needs.
  • Vel's Café

    Third-party vendor located at 555 College Ave., Student Union - Eagle Food Court, (900 Building), Lemoore, CA. They offer a variety of snacks, Starbucks Coffee, lunch items, and even a small selection of school supplies that include scantrons for your upcoming test. Vel's Cafe even offers catering services for in-house and community events. 

    Hours of Operation: Monday - Thursday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Fridays from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m.

  • Mobile Pantry Monthly Drive-Thru Food Distributions

    Partnered with the Central California Food Bank and Kings Community Action Organization (KCAO), we are fortunate to distribute over 10,000 lbs of food every month to students, staff, and community members. The Monthly Drive-Thru Food Distributions are located at 555 College Ave., Parking Lot A (next to the Arena), Lemoore, CA. Line begins to form at 8:00 a.m. No appointment necessary but drive-thru is first-come, first served. Distribution time varies, but typically runs from approx. 8:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. Until supplies last. Don't have a car? Walk-up service is available, but MUST bring a cart or wagon to transport items.  Open to ANYONE who needs extra help getting food.

    Panera Bread Distribution

    During the semester, Panera Bread of Hanford donates bakery bread that is distributed to students on Wednesdays (except holidays) at 10:30 a.m. located at 555 College Ave., Student Union (900 Building) - Golden Eagle Pantry, Lemoore, CA. No appointment necessary. First-come, first served. Until supplies last.

    Golden Eagle Pantry 

    WHCL offers a FREE food assistance program for our enrolled students. Supported by Kings Community Action Organization, CalViva Health, and monetary donations, the Golden Eagle Pantry is open to all currently enrolled West Hills College students. We do not require students to provide proof of needing food. When visiting the Golden Eagle Pantry, show your West Hills College Student ID card at the front door and let us know how many people you are sharing the food with. We will provide you with a hand basket to fill your selected items and offer you extras that we have available for that day.     Cal Fresh Application Assistance (Grocery Money)

    Cal Fresh is a nutrition assistance program that helps low-income individuals and families buy the food they need. Eligible recipients receive and "spend" Cal Fresh benefits electronically, via personal Golden State Advantage electronic benefits transfer (EBT) cards that look just like any other credit or debit cards.   • Transit (KART Passes and Gas Cards)

    WHCL Extended Opportunity Program & Services (EOPS) offers services such as KART Passes and Gas Cards. Student can complete the EOPS Application. Students will also need to connect with the Financial Aid Office to determine eligibility.  Please visit: EOPS | West Hills College Lemoore for more information.
