The High School Equivalency Program (HEP) helps migrant and seasonal farmworkers and their immediate family members who are 18 years of age or older and not currently enrolled in school to obtain the equivalent of a high school diploma. HEP also provides assistance to participants to further their education and knowledge so they may qualify for more rewarding employment, enroll in vocational or technical schools, two-year community colleges, four-year universities or military services.

The High School Equivalency Program helps migrant and seasonal farmworkers and their immediate family members who are 18 years of age or older and not currently enrolled in school to obtain the equivalent of a high school diploma and provides assistance to participants to help them gain employment or to begin postsecondary education or training.
A migrant or seasonally employed agricultural worker or their immediate family members are eligible for HEP if they meet the following criteria:- Within the past 24 months has worked or has an immediate family member who has worked a minimum of 75 days in migrant or seasonal farmwork; this includes any activity directly related to the production of crops, dairy products, poultry, livestock, cultivation or harvesting of trees and fishery.
- OR has been eligible for or has participated in a high school Migrant Education Program and obtained a Certificate of Eligibility (COE);
- OR has participated in or is eligible for programs under the Workforce Investment Act for migrant and seasonal farm workers (WIA Section 167);
- Is at least 18 years of age or over;
- Is not currently enrolled in an elementary or secondary school;
- Has not earned a U.S. secondary school diploma or its equivalency.
About HiSET®
HiSET exam is a five-part test that the State of California use in the process of issuing a high school equivalency credential. The exam allows you to show you have the same academic knowledge and skills as a high school graduate.
What you need to bring on the day of the exam

- Photo ID *Must match the name on the registration list*, Passport, Driver’s/Temporary License, State ID, National ID, Military ID, and Student ID’s are acceptable
- Proof of address
- Voucher Verification if Self-Pay
- ETS number and Must know ETS log-in and password information
Testing Registration Process
- Create a HiSET Test Taker Account
- Pay Exam Fees
$200 for all 5 subjects/$40 for each subject (Math, Writing, Reading, Science, and Social Studies) and $20 Yearly State Testing Fee. - Schedule Testing Dates by calling (559) 934-2147
Testing Policy
- You will have up to 3 attempts for each subject for the calendar year (January -December).
- After 3 attempts, you will have to wait to test in the next calendar year, and you will be charged an additional $40 for another three attempts per
- A No show or a Could Not Test will be counted as one of your
- If you cannot make it to your exam, please GIVE US 3 DAYS NOTICE. If no notice is given, you will be charged the exam
