West Hills College Celebrates 75 Years with an All Class Reunion
The West Hills Community College District will host an all class reunion on Saturday, April 26, 2008 in the West Hills College Coalinga Gymnasium from 9 a.m. to
7:30 p.m.
“We are really excited about the all class reunion,” said Barbara Caganich, executive director of the West Hills Community College Foundation. “Our hope is to create an event where individuals affiliated with West Hills can come together and celebrate the history of West Hills.”
The reunion includes a day full of fun activities. The districts two campuses, West Hills College Lemoore and Coalinga along with the North District Center in Firebaugh and the Farm of the Future will all be open from 9 to 10 a.m. for tours.
Check in for the reunion will start at 10 a.m. with a buffet style lunch starting at 11:30 a.m. A ceremony will follow lunch with a welcome from the district’s chancellor Dr. Frank Gornick and the two college presidents Dr. Willard Lewallen and Don Warkentin.
Alumni from three different graduating classes will speak briefly on their experience at West Hills. The speakers include Dixie Welborn, who is retired now but worked as the business office supervisor for West Hills, Cythnia Zimmer, deputy district attorney for Kern County and Aaron Forth, vice president of product for Mint Software, Inc.
Special guests speakers include Phil Larson, supervisor, Fresno County District 1; Jim Costa, U.S. Congressman, California’s 20th District and Tony Oliveira, supervisor, Kings County District 3.
The all class reunion is sponsored by Educational Employees Credit Union, Granite Construction Company and Pepsi.
All West Hills’ alumni, faculty, staff and friends are invited to participate in this day of celebrating 75 years of service to the San Joaquin Valley.
Admission to the all class reunion is $20 per ticket. A buffet style lunch will be served. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased through the West Hills Community College Foundation by calling Cathi at (559) 934-2127. The last day to purchase lunch tickets is April 16, 2008.
